  PROCEDURE
Case Carriers at each school are contacted for a list of eligible students and a yearly schedule is made. A group of six to eight students will be assessed at one time at the Career Center at each school. The assessment consists of general information about the student, health issues, previous vocational courses, work experience, community service, hobbies and future plans. Here are some of the tools used during our assessments. Some may or may not be administered, depending on the specific needs of the student.
  • Self Directed Search
  • Reading Free Vocational Interest Inventory
  • Choices, COIN, Career Cruising, (Occupational Assessment Softwares)
  • My Future, see form *, Skills and Strengths, see form *, Challenges, see form *
  • Pre- Assessment Request, *see form
  • General Information for student, *see form
From this compiled information, a report is produced noting special interests, work abilities and experiences. Vocational classes are recommended for them to gain work skills and work experience during their high school years.

  STUDENT and TEACHER FOLLOW UP
Most high school students or adults who have completed the assessment process are recommended for an ROP training program. Course recommendations are based on each student’s interests, skills and abilities. A student’s interest may vary, and the vocational recommendation can be revised. Each assessed student’s progress in an ROP program is monitored at least once a semester, depending on the need. This information is used for remediation and for assisting the student in his/her training program. Information is then sent to support personnel. Additional guidance is offered when necessary to insure student success in the vocational program.

Follow up with the ROP instructor is performed also on a semester basis, and more often if needed.
